As Hublot’s first venture into the world of basketball, the King Power Dwyane Wade embodies the competitive spirit of the sport and takes on several unique design queues in homage to both the sport and the great player Dwyane Wade.

What’s important to remember is that Dwyane Wade has been wearing Hublot watches for quite some time; long before he became an official ambassador of the brand. A well-recognized “fashionista” and watch lover, Dwyane Wade had a lot of input in designing his signature Hublot timekeeper. In this post we will look at some of the unique design elements of the King Power Dwyane Wade.

The first detail that stands out on the King Power Dwyane Wade  is the red resin between the two ceramic bezel parts; a departure from the rubber-coated ceramic or metal bezels we see in the standard King Power models.

Another unique detail is the strap, which is rubber with an insert in leather. What makes it stand out is the basketball hoop inspired cross-stitching that follows through the dial design.

In fact, the dial holds so much of Dwyane Wade’s “DNA” in this watch. First, the entire center of the dial is shaped after a basketball, with its grooves and dimples. The outer portion of the detail looks like a hoop, so in fact the entire dial looks like a top-view of a basketball “swooshing” through a hoop.

The right sub-dial contains Dwyane Wade’s jersey number  ”3″, which he sports to represent the Holy Trinity of Christianity. The left sub-dial contains something perhaps less known to the masses, the exclusive new logo for Dwyane Wade (also featured on the display back crystal), which he will also use for his charitable “Wade’s World Foundation”. The indexes and hands also come loaded with red Superluminova for increased visibility in the dark.

The pushers have also been modified, where the chronograph “START” button in red is extended slightly further out of the case for easier manipulation.

Limited to 500 pieces in ceramic, the King Power Dwyane Wade represents both the player and the manufacture’s values of competition, style and above all, giving back.
